Some Short Plays About Theater...

This Spring we decided to add some projects into the season to open up some additional opportunity for actors to get on the stage. We have grown our numbers quite a bit from these types of projects over the last couple of years.

This year we have produced more shows 

than any other season to date!

This Spring we decided to do something different and we picked two plays that discussed what it is to do theater, see theater, experience theater and be a part of making theater. One script is from the 60's and one is from the 80's. They both offer a bit of comedy and also leave you with something to think about.

We opened the show with a monologue one act play..

Played with charm by the wonderfully talented Molly Kurtz. The play is essentially a speech given to an audience about the meaning of the "drama" and "theater" given by a woman who forgets to bring her notecards to the to stage and decides to wing it. It references the word origins, drops new york theater references from the 80's, and allows Mrs. Sorken to bear some personal info about her life. It is short and quick and Molly gave a great performance.

Impromptu
by Tad Mosel

This was a very interesting project all on it's own. There were two directors, two stage managers, and two casts. It allowed for additional four actors to participate. They rehearsed for about a month and each cast was given their own time with the directors. They blocked the piece separately and they worked on the story and interpretation of the piece on their own.

This allowed for two different shows to emerge. The casts worked very hard and put a lot of energy into the performances.
